Schild & Steindl (Hyman Schild and Maurice D. Steindl) was located here between 1922 and 1926. The partnership started in 1921 and continued for about 10 years. From 1927 to 1931 they were located at 203 W. 38 St. Then Schild continued on his own as Schild Inc. from 1932 to 1939 at 110 W. 40th St.

Hyman Schild (1892-1976) appears in the 1930 US Census as age 38, salesman, buttons & buckle jobbers, living at 8446 Marion Ave., Bronx, NY, with wife Eva (35) and sons Bernard (9) and Daniel (3).

Maurice David Steindl (1894-1979) appears as age 36, Proprietor, Button Co., living at 244 E. 196th St., Bronx, NY, with wife Hortense (32) and daughters Helene(5) and Joan(1). At age 23 Steindl registered for the World War I draft in June 1917 while still single and employed at the U. S. Post Office "engaged in transmission of mails."
